The Tortoise and the Hare

I’m back from a hiatus due to illness and want to share with you my not so latest cast on. Hope you’re all having a good weekend.

I cast this on immediately Cables, came off my needles (weeks ago actually) and it promises some interesting techniques like steeking and Vikkel braid (is this the same as Latvian braid? Because I’ve seen it called different names on YouTube). I’m particularly looking forward to steeking. It’s a Kate Davies’ pattern called Tortoise and Hare, and I’m knitting with Drops Flora and Fabel I bought last year for knitting socks (which never materialised ☹️). Though I don’t fancy grey coloured garments, I’ve decided to try and knit from my stash as much as possible this year. I didn’t even realise I have that much stash until I took inventory two weeks ago and used that section of Ravelry to catalogue my yarn. To say I was shocked is an understatement. So grey it is for this top. To appease my ‘ colourful’ side however, I’ll be combining these two shades of grey with orange and mustard.

Here is a closer look at one of the three braids; it took me FOREVER to make one.

Off to catch up on my blog roll.
