This is actually a distraction, but a necessary one. I really need another pair of fingerless gloves because my current pair are tired and begging to be retired. They’ve had a lot of use since I knitted them about two years ago, because I wear them for at least seven months of the year. Though I have a shop bought pair, I can’t knit with those because of the thumbs, so I cast these on. It’s a free pattern on Ravelry called Katherine’s adaptation of Sonja’s fingerless gloves. It’s a straightforward knit except when I get distracted with the Winter Olympics, and make a mistake, but I’m really enjoying knitting it.
The cable and lace details are really pretty, and I don’t have to use cable needles because there are only 4 stitches per cable, YAY! The cuff is slightly longer at 3″, so I can roll them for extra warmth if need be, and I’m knitting on 3.5mm needles. I’m at the point where I start the increases for the thumb gusset, so it shouldn’t be long now. Oh! and the yarn is Wendy 100% Superwash Merino DK I had left over from Fluffy.
Till next time.
